George, just my own take on the worth of my own personal work…
you mention “win a logo design valued in more than $500.” Now i will say that you wouldn’t want to necessarily put a value of your time in hours, at least i don’t. I’ve had times where I work on a project for a client for 4 or 5 hours and I think it comes out great, but they hate it. Then I need to put in another 10 or so hours for something which I think is sub-par just to make them happy. Then they get charged more!
I think my point is, wouldn’t the worth of the logo fluxuate with the success of the site? for example, back in the day Microsoft bought the rights to QDOS for $50,000. Had the previous owners of QDOS known how successful Microsoft would become, I would think QDOS would be worth a heck of a lot more.
